LEAP Technologies

Company Description

LEAP Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1989 as an autosampler company serving the GC and GC–MS markets. Since then, LEAP has expanded into front-end sample handling for all areas of chromatography and mass spectroscopy, including LC/MS/MS and MALDI-MS as well as robotics for proteomics and fiber optic UV technology for tablet dissolution. LEAP strives to find total solutions for analytical lab automation. One of the major components in LEAP's approach to automation solutions is with the PAL X,Y,Z robot.LEAP Technologies All Things PAL™ Simplify with One Call, One Source, One Purchase Order! Buy direct from LEAP & enjoy our undivided attention, product expertise, and more.

The LEAP Story

LEAP is experienced in providing automation solutions for any process that gathers, treats and delivers samples to an analytical process. Liquid Handling is in most cases involved but we are not limited to that. We can also move, weigh and image objects. Liquid handling includes spraying and printing besides the usual measuring, pipetting, injecting, mixing , heating or sampling of a variety of liquids. We have the ability to design, engineer, deliver and support simple but unique or complex but simple to use systems. The LEAP Shell software lets us create solution-specific sample lists and shell methods that synchronize all instruments involved. LEAP Shell is used for LC/LCMS and stand-alone workstations. LEAP uses Chronos Mastersoftwarefor GC and GC-MS integrations. Currently, Chronos integrates with Thermo Electron Xcalibur 1.4 and 2.0 GC & Agilent GC and MSD ChemStation. Further data system packages are begin integrated with Chronos so check with LEAP to see if yours is.
We can provide complete locked-down systems to Value Added Resellers (VARs). Combinations of instruments that we can supply are robotic sampling devices and LC pumps as front-end to LC-MS systems. Single and dual channel LC to one MS that save cycle time and therefore increase throughput are becoming standard Frontend Automation Bundles (FABs). LEAP has available a proven SDK for PAL integration into your data system software.
One of LEAP's fundamental business philosophies is to build strong client relationships by knowing our customers and responding to their specific needs with superior personal service whether you have one PAL or are VAR of LEAP's.

Examples of some customized applications we have provided. We call them "LEAP Specials". They are custom made to suit your exact needs. Let us show you how automation can make your life in the laboratory easier, more efficient, and more rewarding. Turn Your CTC Autosampler into a LEAP WorkStation. The CTC PAL is a great autosampler but LEAP can improve upon it with one or more of our automated solutions. You dont have to know how - you just have to know LEAP. LEAP is experienced in providing automation solutions for any process that gathers, treats and delivers samples to an analytical process. Liquid Handling is in most cases involved but we are not limited to that. We can also move, weigh and image objects. Liquid handling includes spraying and printing besides the usual measuring, pipetting, injecting, mixing, heating or sampling of a variety of liquids. We have the ability to design, engineer, deliver and support simple but unique or complex but simple to use systems. We have various software packages to choose from including all major data systems. Our own LEAP Shell scheduling software let’s us create solution specific sample lists and Shell methods that synchronizes all instruments involved. We also can use Chronos Mastersoftware, Cycle Composer software, Cycle Editor and ICC-CE depending on your needs.

DBS Automated PAL

As Seen at the CPSA October 2010

LEAP Technologies presented "Novel Walk Away Automation for DBS sample extraction from 4-Spot Cards to LC-MS" at the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Structure Analysis (CPSA) 2010 annual meeting held in Pennsylvania. The Dry Blood Spot (DBS) technique of eluding the blood sample from filter paper cards still lacks simple, reliable and inexpensive automation until today with LEAP Technologies and the PAL Platform. There are approximately 100 methods/applications known for these sample carrier DBS cards with many more being developed everyday. In many such areas automation will be a tremendous benefit. It will not only be labor saving, but also decrease handling, which means less errors and more consistency in getting the samples introduced into a separation and then the analytical system. The work flow of the automation approach step by step was discussed. The experience with hardware and software so far was be reviewed, including experience with the built-in internal standard addition. The SCAP DBS has patent pending technology applied and is simple to use. The approach of eluting the dry blood sample off the card directly to a multi-column system by-passes all manual and cumbersome treatment steps of the sample cards. First results from needed cycle times and throughput were presented. This is LEAP's latest approach to automated DBS using the PAL platform.

LEAP Technologies presented "A fully automated system for Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange" at the 58th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics (ASMS) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
To see information about this system please follow our quick link HD/X Applications

LEAP Technologies also presented "DLW (Dynamic Load and Wash) for Fast and Clean LC/MS Loading" The DLW,Dynamic Load and Wash, is designed for today’s most sensitive MS instruments this completely new injection and wash concept gives Near Zero Carryover and can drastically reduced cycle times. The linked combination of the two steps which are usually separate - minimizes cycle time and carry over. The DLW,Dynamic Load and Wash, is designed to be used on the PAL line of robots at the 58th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics (ASMS) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
To see information about this system please follow our quick link DLW

LEAP Technologies also presented the "Collect PAL"Fraction Collector which features “0” sample loss during collection,“0” well-to-well carry over,“0” drips and spills between fraction sites, “0” loss due to evaporation at the 58th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics (ASMS) Salt Lake City, Utah.
