Company Description
LEAP Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1989 as an autosampler[1] company serving the GC[2] and GC–MS markets. Since then, LEAP has expanded into front-end sample handling for all areas of chromatography [3] and mass spectroscopy[4], including LC/MS/MS and MALDI-MS [5] as well as robotics for proteomics and fiber optic UV technology for tablet dissolution. LEAP strives to find total solutions for analytical lab automation. One of the major components in LEAP's approach to automation solutions is with the PAL[6] X,Y,Z robot.
The LEAP Story
LEAP is experienced in providing automation solutions for any process that gathers, treats and delivers samples to an analytical process. Liquid Handling is in most cases involved but we are not limited to that. We can also move, weigh and image objects. Liquid handling includes spraying and printing besides the usual measuring, pipetting, injecting, mixing, heating or sampling of a variety of liquids. We have the ability to design, engineer, deliver and support simple but unique or complex but simple to use systems. The LEAP Shell 3[7] software lets us create solution-specific sample lists and Shell 3 methods that synchronize all instruments involved. We can provide complete locked-down systems to Value Added Resellers (VARs). Combinations of instruments that we can supply are robotic sampling devices and LC pumps as front-end to LC-MS systems. Single and dual channel LC to one MS that save cycle time and therefore increase throughput are becoming standard Frontend Automation Bundles (FABs).
Chief Chromatographic Techniques Supported:
- LC-Fraction Collection for purification (semi-prep)
- LC–MS Sample Handlers providing sample just before injection
- GC and GC–MS Sample Prep such as headspace, SPME, and 96-well, ITSP, MEPS SPE with different injection techniques
- LC pumps for 50nl-2ml flow rates applicable to standard, micro and capillary columns
- 2D LC systems with sample handlers (PALs) for nano spray, nano fractionation to MALDI and other fraction collection schemes
A Sampling of Markets Served:
- Pharma / Biotech
- Polymer / Chemical
- Proteomics
- Forensic
- Food and Beverage
- Fragrance
- Environmental
Application Solutions
LEAP strives to find standardized solutions for all industries using analytical processes for small and large molecules in extracted liquids, solids, and in human, animal and plant tissues. We provide the precise robotics and efficient sample prep required by modern measurement techniques such as mass spectroscopy.

Examples of Special Solutions
Example Solutions
Examples of some customized applications we have provided. We call them "LEAP Specials". They are custom made to suit your exact needs. Let us show you how automation can make your life in the laboratory easier, more efficient, and more rewarding. Turn Your CTC Autosampler into a LEAP WorkStation. The CTC PAL is a great autosampler but LEAP can improve upon it with one or more of our automated solutions. Our own LEAP Shell 3 scheduling software let’s us create solution specific sample lists and Shell 3 methods that synchronizes all instruments involved. We also can use Cycle Composer Software, Cycle Editor and ICC-CE depending on your needs.

LEAP Technologies provides fully automated sample processing workstation instrumentation solutions based on the LEAP CTC PAL X, Y, Z syringe only autosampler robot. This extremely flexible, precise, and adaptable liquid handling robotic platform is available in a variety of lengths and options depending on the requirements of your sample preparation and injections for your UHPLC, LC or GC chromatography. LEAP also offers process control systems and stand alone workstations. LEAP offers full support and service for the PAL platform with over 10 years of history with the PAL. LEAP can also write custom macros, cycles, and scheduling software for your specific applications. We're proud that LEAP is known as a productivity improver for laboratories including government labs in agencies such as FDA, USDA, EPA, FBI, Armed Forces, Homeland Security and others function more efficiently. Robotic sample prep equipment works well in government labs and challenges lab technicians to keep feeding those more samples. Analytical equipment such as chromatographs and mass spectrometers are expensive devices and also expensive to maintain. LEAP can help to keep them running and analyze samples around the clock. LEAP has most of its laboratory automation robots under GSA contract and is eager to service and maintain everything it sells to keep your expensive lab equipment running around the clock.
Please contact LEAP Technologies on how we can help you get maximized throughput with flexible pipetting automation solutions whether it is our standard applications or customized to your needs.
